Artist's Statement

I am an easily distracted person. As an artist, I find peace in the photographic process. This allows me to focus on the here & now- the moment. I am not interested in documentation, but in expressively creating a sense of the environment. I prefer locales that are in the natural world. . Whether on a back road in the Flint Hills or watching the sun set over the ocean, I have a sense of freedom. Through my images I hope to convey the beauty, peace & healing that I feel in the natural world.

Artist's Background

Betsy Forcade is a fine art photographer with decades of experience and a love of the natural world.

Betsy studied advanced photographic techniques as an assistant in a commercial studio working for national and international clients for the last thirty years. She learned about lighting, camera angles, composition and technical aspects of photography. The advent of digital photography has helped her make rapid advancements in her artwork from the instant feedback it provides.  She understands the entire process of producing her artwork from the initial shoot to the post-production work and the printing in her own studio. There are no compromises. She has complete control over the creative process from the first camera click to the final print.   

While she and her artist husband Tim shoot all over the world, as a native Kansan, she delights in discovering the unique and marvelous aspects of her home state. Betsy lives in Lawrence Kansas with her husband and two cats.
